What is the key to an organized evacuation?
Develop an ICS early, initiate/update a plan.
What are the 3 levels of evacuation?
Site Evac: small # of people, evac of less than an hour or two
Intermediate evac: larger area, less than 100 people, coordinate with PD
Large Scale evac: out of homes for many hours or days
Who is responsible for developing an evacuation plan?
Planning Sector, along with PD.
Who should be evacuated?
Residents living/working in the area.
What happens when a resident refuses to leave?
Inform of risk. If they still won’t leave, notify Evacuation Branch with the citizens address for follow-up.
For On-Site Notification to Evacuate (notifying a large residential street or area), what is best method?
Use of Sirens, PA system, and air horns will speed alert process.
Where immediate evac makes door to door impossible, what can be done?
- use (3) 5 second siren blasts on yelp setting
- start siren blasts at start of each block, every 50 yards
