Concerning Accountability, what are the CO duties?
- maintain MCT/roster
- crew has helmet ID tags/name tags on mask
- par on crews
- crew intact, aware of exit air
- passport dropped off/picked up from Accountability
- increased risk needs close supervision by CO
What are each crew members responsibilities concerning Accountability on scene?
- all crews work for IC/Sector (no freelance)
- minimum crew size is 2 or more
- **each member has a radio
- all crews enter hot zone with a supervisor
- crew goes in, works, comes out together
- entire crew exits if an SCBA/radio/ any equipment that compromises safety, fails in hot zone
What is accountability equipment?
- passport w/pouch
- helmet ID tag
- hoseline ID tag
- small company ID tags
What is CO responsibility with accountability hardware use on scene?
- ensure passport/MCT roster shows only members assigned to truck
- passport shows only members going into hot zone
When will the Passport system be used?
At any incident that requires the use of an SCBA.
When a crew takes a line off of the Forward Engine, where is the passport placed?
The Engineer puts passport/pouch/hoseline ID tag on discharge gate at pump panel.
Where do Ladder crews leave their passports, when they are going to the roof?
On their truck.
Where do Ladder crews leave their passports, when they are going interior?
With the Engine closest to their point of entry.
If crews exit a structure at a different location than their original sector, what will they do?
Notify their original Sector Officer and/or their Accountability Officer of their changed status (passport must be retrieved).
There is a back-up accountability kit on each engine. What are they for?
To have a way to maintain accountability, when a crew arrives without their passports.
When is accountability terminated?
After a report of ‘Fire Control”, in which time a par is obtained.
What are the Passport Rules?
- show only personnel in hot zone
- take to accountability locale before entering hot zone
- will stay at point of entry to the hot zone
- will never go into hot zone
- picked up when crew exits hot zone
- acct location is engine where crew pulled line from
What is a PAR?
Confirmation that all members are accounted for, and have adequate air.
How should a PAR be conducted within the sector or company?
Face-to-face when possible.
When is a PAR required?
- missing/trapped ff
- change from off to def
- sudden haz event
- report of All Clear
- report of Fire Control
- 30 min elapsed time notification
- whenever IC feels necessary
