The Renaissance was a period of time in Europe between 14th and 16th Century when art, literture, philosophy and scientific ideas became very important.

Between the 14th - 16th Century.
Where and when did the Renaissance begin?
In Italy in the 1300s.
Where had the Renaissance spread to by the 1600s?
France, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and other European countries.
What did Renaissance leaders start to reject?
The attitudes and ideas of the Middle Ages.
When were the Middle Ages?
From 500 CE to above 1500 CE. The time between the Roman Empire and the start of the European Renaissance.
What did people of the Middle Ages forget and how did their living conditions change?
The huge improvements made by the Greeks and Romans. Living conditions got worse - war, poverty and hunger.
What does the Middle Ages represent?
Age of faith in God and Heaven.
What does the Renaissance represent?
Age of humanity, science, learning, rights and freedom of individuals.
What does the word Renaissance mean?
In new interest in something, especially in the form of art or music.
Why did Europeans start exploring new lands after the 1400s?
More people learned to read and write.
People became more curious about other places.
Ideas and knowledge began to spread.
New technology, so they could build bigger ships.
Trade became more important eg Spices. To increase wealth.
Europeans wanted to spread their Christian religon.
Who improved the printing press in 1456 which allowed more books to be printed?
Johannes Gutenberg.
