This is the idea that can be linked to institutional racism, new police are expected to hold and express certain sexist and racist view points. Those who don’t conform are treated as out casts and these attitudes spilled over into police work and makes them target black youths more frequently

What is the myth of black criminality?
Gilroys idea that black crime was a political act fighting back against oppression the figures were also inflated by police stereotypes and attitudes. They were selected because they were seen as powerless

It is not ethnicity but poverty and exclusion that leads too the high number of EMG convicted of crime. They also found that Asians commited less crime then any other ethnic group

Most Asians in Bradford were relatively poor and living in inner city areas. However they commited less crime because of the emphasis on family honour which encourages conformism as they are afraid of dishonouring the family name.
