What is erythema nodosum?
A
Inflammation of the SC fat
Leads to tender, erythematous bruise like nodules on the shin (can be elsewhere on the body)

What are the causes?
A
Idiopathic
Pregnancy
Infections e.g. TB and strep
Drugs e.g. penicillins, COCP, sulphonamides
Systemic disease e.g. IB and sarcoidosis Malignancy/lymphoma

What is the management?
A
NSAIDs for the pain
Self resolving within 6wks with no scarring If underlying drug thought to cause- stop the drug
