Erikson's 8 Stages of Development (1.3) Flashcards
Trust v. Mistrust
0-1 year
development of trust suggests that the world is a good and pleasant place to live (mistrust from parent results in the opposite)
Autonomy v. Shame and Doubt

preschool children encounter situations where they must take the initiative and if they are punished for doing so they develop a sense of guilt
Industry v. Inferiority

Intimacy v. Isolation

Individuals are tasked with developing intimate relationships; failure to do so leads to isolation
Generativity v. Stagnation
40 years-59 years
Individuals help the younger generation lead meaningful and helpful lives; failure to do so leads to a feeling of stagnation
Integrity v. Dispair
60 years-Onward
individuals reflect on the past asking themselves if they lived a well-spent life if not, they are gloomy (dispair)
