Mechanism of action of viagra?
A
Brain sitmulates nerves, which stimulate nitric oxide production
Leads to an increase in cyclic GMP which relaxes the arteries
Viagra inhibits phosphodiesterase 5 which increases CGMP so more blood flow

Contraindications to viagra use?
A
Use of other nitrates of any sort- could suddenly drop blood pressure
Unstable cardiac disease
Poor exercise tolerance
Side effects: flushing, nasal congestion, changes in colour vision
