Early America (0-1630)
This era consist of all things pertaining to the Spanish, French, and English colonies and the beginnings of the settlement of America
Eras of American History
Instead of knowing specific dates in history, it is better to know the era (that way you know the order of things in which they occured without knowing the actual date)
The Colonial Period (1630-1763)
Consists of the beginnings of the colonies and minor revolutions that occurred, any agreements that were made such as the Mayflower compact, and anything else leading up to the French and Indian war
Revolutionary America (1763-1783)
This is the period in which the colonies start to retaliate against British control
The Young Republic (1783-1815)
Period in which America is just starting out, political parties begin and the era ends with the end of the War of 1812
Expansion, Political Reform, and Turmoil (1815-1860)
This era begins with the Era of good feelings and goes all the way to pre-Civil War controversy
Sectional Controversy, War, and Reconstruction (1830-1876)
The era begins with the secession of the Southern states and ends with the reconstruction period
Second Industrial Revolution (1871-1914)
Many inventions and innovations in the industry market are made and the era ends with the end of the Spanish American war
Political Reform or Progressive Era (1880-1920)
This era consists of many social and economical reforms made by Theodore Roosevelt and ends with the inauguration of Woodrow Wilson
War, Prosperity, and Depression (1914-1933)
Begins with the opening of the Panama Canal, goes through World War I, and ends with the Great Depression after the stockmarket crash
The New Deal and World War II (1933-1945)
This era deals with FDR’s administration and ends with the bombing of Japan
Postwar America (1945-1960)
Era begins with containment of Communism, goes though the Korean War, starts the Cold War and ends with the election of Nixon as President
Vietnam Era (1960-1980)
Begins with the Bay of Pigs and the JFK assassination, goes through Johnson’s administration and civil rights, and the Vietnam War, Nixon is placed on trial and resigns, and the era ends with the election of Reagan
End of the Century
Covers the entire Reagan administration and ends with the 2000 election
The New Millenium (2001-Present)
Begins with the 9/11 attacks in the United States and continues to present day politics
