- Heart: Listen for abnormalities such as murmurs or arrhythmias and be sure to make note of anything abnormal (listen for “lub dub”). Take heart rate of the patient as well. Listen to both the right & left sides making a total of 2 quadrants.
- Lungs: Listen for wheezing, crackles, “wet” sounds, rattling, etc. Listen to both quadrants on the right & left sides (4 total). Take respiration rate and make note of any abnormalities.
- GI: Make note of the intensity & frequency of intestinal sounds (and any abnormalities). Listen for gurgling, rumbling, & sloshing sounds. Auscult the R/L dorsal & R/L ventral locations.
