Caudodoral lung fields are the most commonly affected
Clinical sign in the horse with EIPH
Epistaxis. But it’s important to know that does not occur in all horses.
Decreased performance, labored breathing, loss of speed during exercise, or coughing may be reported.
Diagnosis for EIPH
The presence of blood at one or both nostrils.
Endoscopy and cytologic examination of bronchoalveolar lavage.
Treatment for EIPH
Furosemide 4 hours before the exercise
Other remedies for EPIH include pro coagulants, vitamin K, hormone therapy, and various nutritional suplements.
