Equilibrium Flashcards
What is the range for Kc values?
Never negative 0-1
The closer to 1- the closer they go to completion
The further from 1- the reaction hardly occurs at all
Why would catalysts be used in equilibrium?
Speed up the forward and reverse equally
Aim is to produce the highest possible yield in the shortest amount of time
What is the Liquid Vapor law?
Rate of vaporization=rate of condensation
Vaporization?
Endothermic process
The stronger the forces the higher the enthalpy of vaporization the higher the b.p
Vapor pressure?
Substances with high b.p the vapor pressure will be lower as fewer molecules will escape from the liquid phase
-exponential increase v.p w/ temp.
What is the only thing that can change the the value of Kc?
Temperature!!
