EQUILIBRIUM Flashcards
How to figure out Kc in a heterogeneous reaction
Do not include solids and pure liquids in the Kc expression as their concentrations remain constant
ICE acronym for working out concentration at equilibrium
Initial moles
Change in moles
Equilibrium moles
What does the Kp expression look like and how would heterogeneous differ
Still products over reactants, but rather than concentration, it consists of partial pressures
In heterogeneous, only include gases in the expression
How to work out partial pressures given moles
find out amount of moles of each at equilibrium
then find mole fraction
partial pressure = mole fraction x total pressure
How does temperature effect the value of Kp
If temp change causes equilibrium to shift right then Kp will increase
opposite happens if equilibrium shifts left
