Convergence funding
Grants from local and national governments. This funding is known as convergence funding. It aims to reduce regional disparities in income wealth and opportunity between rural and urban areas.
Farm shop in Cornwall used match funding.
The family who owned the farm raised 20,000 to support their business plan.
They needed 320,000
The bank then lent them 20,000 match them
Cornwall council then matched the new amount making 80,000
The south west regional development agency then matched it making 160,000
Finally, the business was awarded EU objective one funding to match the160,000 creating the necessary 320,000 to start the business

What is the watergate bay project
The extreme sports academy at watergate bay targets a young adult age group. It offers surfing,wave skiing and kite surfing. They owners also run watergate bay hotel. Both are open all year round and employ 50-60 people
Next door is a restaurant owned by Jaime Oliver that trains young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. They work in the restaurant and train at Cornwall college

To increase the range of university courses and develop a knowledge economy in Cornwall. The university of Falmouth and Exeter university joined forces to create the combined universities in Cornwall together CUC
CUC also helps its graduates to set up their own businesses or secure jobs in knowledge based companies in Cornwall - trying to cut the Cornish brain drain
The student economy has resulted in the rental market and a thriving evening economy of bars and restaurants
What is the wave hub Regeneration projects ?
Is a water power research project situated 16km off Cornwall’s north coast. It was installed on the seabed in 2010, and acts as a socket for wave energy converters to be plugged into. A cable takes electricity from the hub to mainland. It cost 42 million to build. The project will earn 76 million over 25 years for Cornwalls economy and create 170 jobs.
What is the super fast Broad band regeneration project ?
By 2016 over 95% of Cornwall had access to fibre broadband first county to achieve this and it has the greatest take up as a percentage of people. Cornwall now has the worlds largest rural fibre network. It cost 132 million. This encourages businesses,particularly knowledge-economy companies and those who work from home.
