The ships could no longer fit in the docks due to congestion.
Goods were being moved quicker and faster by air travel
During the war the London dock lands was bombed very badly. This caused a lot of damage.

The land use changed with new high rise office buildings. Designed to stimulate quaternary employment. Creating high earring in jobs to create a trickle down effect to poorer communities

many old people have moved out, and been replaced by younger generations. The average age is now 31 compared to the uk average of 40. It is also londons most ethically diverse borough.
