Q

Explain two ways I’m which local governments can affect decision-making about regeneration?

A

One way local governments can affect decision making about regeneration is local interest groups as they are vital in decision making and creating regeneration project. This can include groups such as local preservation societies and trade unions. However, there is often conflict between these groups as interests differ. Some may wish to preserve urban landscapes whilst others seek to change it.

Another factor that can affect it is business environments as government want to attract domestic and foreign investors as this will determine the success of the regeneration projects

A

The reason for the regeneration was to facilitate the Olympic Games

New infrastructure evented to ensure a lasting legacy in London

Many of the sporting facilities are still there and the Olympic village has been converted into flats and apartments.

The regeneration has brought benefits to the local residents, brought down unemployment by 3%. As well as turning the Olympic messiah centre to the east London tech city. Also plans to open a museum and two universities.

A negative of the regeneration is those people paying rent in east London couldn’t afford to keep paying it as prices went up as the area increased in value
