What is green infrastructure? What can it provide?
A network of multi-functional green space and other green features, urban and rural, which can deliver quality of life and environmental benefits for communities.
What has copenhagen done so far in terms of green infrastructure?
-Reduced CO2 emissions by 40% since 2005
-They use energy saving devices and LEDs to reduce energy consumption. This is known as retro fitting
- District heating: (generating heat in a centralized location then distributing to residents + businesses). This makes it easier to switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy without replacing lots of boilers
-375km cycling lanes- greatest cycling capital in the world
-Bicycle parking in commercial places
-District cooling (better than AC) they use seawater to cool large buildings
What does copenhagen hope to do in the future in terms of green infrastructure?
-Hope to become carbon neutral by 2025
-The harbour line is to be completed by 2024
-300 wind turbines by 2025
