Glasgow city council in partnership with the scottish govt. started -
late 1980’s onwards to 2000’s = strategic investment into Glasgows history attributed to art- the Burrell museum (art collection) and scottish exhibition and conference centre
- centre facilitated Glasgow’s new role as a European centre for business services and finance and promoted an increase in tourism (attracted 4 million visitors every year) and inward investment
- helped Glasgow to become rebranded as a European City of culture .
