Epithelial Tissue Flashcards
Simple squamous
Flattened cell attached to BM, lines heart, blood vessels, lymph vessels, lung alveoli & collecting ducts of kidney nephron
simple Cuboidal
cube shaped attached to BM, forms kidney tubules and some glands, important fir recreation, absorption & excretion
Simple Columnar
column like attached to BM, found in stomach, small intestine, trachea, Fallopian tubes, can be Ciliated
statified squamous epithelium
has continual cell division in the BM and its main role is protection form wear and tear.
Keratinised stratified squamous epithelium
dry surfaces, skin hair & nails, top layer of cells have no null and contain Keratin
Non-Keratinised stratified epithelium
moist surfaces protects them from drying out e.g. mouth, pharynx, oesophagus & vagina
Pseudostratified Epithelium
gives the impression of stratified but each cell is attached at the BM
Pseudostratified columnar dilated epithelium- example
- Pseudostratified columnar dilated epithelium in fround in the respiratory tract, for this it can be known as respiratory epithelium. > goblet cells secrete mucus and the cilia beat it out
Name all the types of epithelium
