DVT – Deep Vein Thrombosis
DVT is the formation of a thrombus in a deep vein. They usually occur in the lower extremities. Signs and Symptoms include:- - Calf pain and/or tenderness - Swelling below the knee sometimes with associated pitting oedema - Increased skin temperature - Cyanosis if there is a severe obstructio
Pulmonary Edema
Pulmonary edema is a condition caused by an excess of fluid in the
lungs. This fluid then collects in the air sacs in the lungs, making it
difficult for the patient to breathe.
Signs and Symptoms include:-
- Extreme shortness of breath, or difficulty in breathing that worsens
when lying down
- A feeling of suffocating or drowning
- Wheezing or gasping for breath
- A cough that produces frothy sputum, which may have a blood tinge
- Sometimes chest pain can be seen if the edema is caused by heart
disease
- A rapid, irregular heartbeat

- o2 insitu and flow rate
- canula insitu
- ivt - check rate
