A

TEMPS

-Tactics = safe & effective, short phrases “Police, Stop”/“Police, don’t move”

-Equipment = train, know limitations, working correctly (body armor, etc)

-Mental preparation = Foundation for winning (WIN & crisis rehearsal)

-Physical fitness = aerobic conditioning, strength training, flexibility training

-Shooting skills = proficiency, low light

What are the “Dozen Deadly Errors”

A

CRIMPTTFFFFN

Complacency = opens up LEO to all deadly errors
Relaxing too soon = nothing is “routine”
Improper use of handcuffs, frisk, or search
Missing danger signs = be aware of potential threats and never underestimate a suspect’s potential to do harm
Preoccupation = pay attention to the problem at had, stay focused on the job
Taking a bad position = evaluate your position (cover/concealment)
Tactical restraint = apprehending at a later time when you have tactical advantage (team)
Failure to watch the hands = WATCH THE HANDS (hands have the most opportunity to kill)
Failure to exercise due regard while driving = one of the leading causes of line of duty deaths
Failure to wear proven safety gear = PPE/vests
Failure to maintain physical and emotional/psychological health = resilient lifestyle
Not enough sleep/rest = severe fatigue that impairs ability to protect and serve

Recognize = recognize you have been surprised and that you are in a position of disadvantage
