Enzymes Flashcards
Enzymes
Enzymes are special proteins involved in metabolism
Carbohydrate enzyme
Carbohydrase
Protein enzyme
Protease
Lipids enzyme
Lipase
Function of carbohydrate
It breaks down glucose
Function of protien
Breaks down amino acids
Function of lipid
Breaks down fatty acids and gycoral
Bile
Made in the liver Stored in the Gail bladder Alkaline to neutralise hydrochloric Acid from the stomach Emulsifies fat from small droplets
Temperature effect on the body
Collisions between all molecules increase as temperature increases. This is due to the increase in velocity and kinetic energy that follows temperature increases.
Effects of PH on Enzymes
Hydrochloric acid gives the stomach a low PH suitable for the protease secreted there to work efficiently
Effects of PH on enzymes
Alkaline bile neutralises the acid and give a high PH for the enzymes from the pancreas and small intestine to work well
