Enzyme Flashcards
What are enzymes?
are proteins that bring together or break apart reactants to form products
What are specific enzymes?
Enzymes that speed up different biochemical reactions by binding molecules called a substrate
What are catalysts?
YOUR MOM
How do enzymes speed up reactions?
They reduce their activation energy by rearranging the molecular structure to bring parts of the molecules involved in the Reaction Closer together at the site so that the reaction occurs more easily.
What are the 4 Factors that influence How enzymes work?
Temperature, pH, Substrate concentration, Enzyme concentration
What happens to an enzyme solution when the temperature is increased?
Increasing the temperature of the solution will make the particles in solution collide more, Resulting in more enzyme activity and product forming.
