Environmental Control System (ECS) Flashcards
ECS consists of which two systems?
pneumatic and air conditioning
Pneumatic air is supplied from where?
3rd stage bleed port (or APU)
What does the ECS provide?
- pre-cooled air for canopy and windshield seals inflation
- windshield demisting
- OBOGS
- windshield ice and rain removal
- anti-G suit inflation
- air conditioning
- pressurization for the cockpits
- cooling air for the avionic bays
How many BALDS sensor wires detect hot air leakages in either bleed duct or common bleed duct?
3
Cockpit temp range?
15C - 30C
What bus powers the ECS?
essential
T/F: It’s normal for L or R bleed light to blink after landing during braking.
True
What are the three stages of the pressurization cycle?
- unpressurized <8k’
- steady cabin alt (8k’) from 8k’ - 17.7k’
- steady differential (24kPa) from 17.7k’ - 45k’
CAB PRESS LO caution
cabin pressure <36.3kPa (off >37.1kPa)
BLEED L/R + L+R BLEED warning
integrity of L/R engine bleed pipe is lost
ECS BLEED caution
- bleed knob OFF or
- hot air leakage in ECS common ducts (+ BLEED LR + LR BLEED warnings)
- overpressure condition downstream of pressure regulating valve
- temperature downstream of the precooler exceeded 240C (no pilot assessment available)
AV AIR T caution
- temp in av bay > 20C for > 20 sec, or has exceeded 65C
- CABIN PRESS switch OFF
AIR COND caution
- temp downstream of the Cold Air Unit (CAU) compressor > 240C (+ECS BLEED)
- cockpit inlet air temp >85C
- cabin press switch is at OFF
- utility control box (UCB) failure during UCB PBIT
UCB caution
UCB not available (NOGO status)
CAB P SCHED caution
cabin press </= -1850ft or >/= 1500ft WRT nominal cabin pressure schedule, CABIN LP will be off
