Environmental Flashcards
Which cargo bay is supplied with conditioned air?
-aft cargo bay
How are the packs operated?
- electrically controlled
- pneumatically operated
How many smoke detectors in the cargo bay?
- 3 forward cargo bay
- 2 aft cargo bay
What ensures that the aircraft remains unpressurized on the ground?
- ground valve
- open on ground, closed in flight
Normal max operating pressure?
8.4 PSID
Max pressure differential
8.7 PSID
How long until the ground valve opens?
Approximately 60 seconds
Where are the packs located?
Aft equipment bay
How are the safety valves operated?
Pneumatically
How many safety valves are installed?
2
What is the purpose of the safety valves?
To prevent cabin over pressurization and negative pressurization
What is the purpose of the microprocessor (CPAM)?
- automatically drops passenger masks at 14,000 feet
- limits cabin altitude to 14,500 feet +/- 500 feet
- controls opening and closing speed of the ground valve
When will the ground valve open?
After touchdown, approximately 60 seconds
Will the EMER DEPRESS switch override the automatic and manual controllers?
Yes
Which pack supplies the cabin and which supplies the cockpit?
- left pack cockpit
- right pack cabin
What happens when the engine START switch is pressed?
Pack valves are automatically closed
If both air conditioning systems fail, what can be used to ventilate the aircraft?
Ram air from the scoop (enters the mixing manifold)
How are the CRT screens cooled?
2 fans, one on the ground and one in the air
If both CRT cooling fans fail what other protection is available?
Selecting standby removes power from the fans and allows air from the flight deck air conditioning duct to cool the CRTs
During ground operations, where is the air used to cool the CRTs and electronic equipment dumped?
Overboard through the ground valve
When is the cabin pressurization controller switched to the other channel?
3 minutes after landing
CABIN ALT caution message
Cabin altitude greater than or equal to 8,500 ft
CABIN ALT warning message
Cabin altitude greater than or equal to 10,000 ft
DIFF PRESS warning message
Cabin pressure equal to or greater than 8.6 PSI
How many outflow valves are installed?
1 valve
What is the cabin pre-pressurized to?
-150 feet
How long will the CPC maintain pre-pressurization mode after takeoff?
10 minutes
