a conservation area is defined as a protected area which is managed according to the plans for the conservation of natural resources, wildlife and their habitat, sustainable development and use of natural reources.

status of forest in nepal
green forest is the wealth of nepal is very comman slogan in nepal. unpto 2027 50 % of land was overed in forest. present 29 % of land is covered in nepal. uncontrolled deforestantion for settlement, overgazing, and cutting down of tress for firewood, fodder, and illegal loging are the main causes behind decrease in forest of nepal.
importance of forest
- forest conserve the soil of the hilly regions and prevent soil erosion,
- it makes land fertile and moist whih increases the productivity of soil.
- it regulates rain cycle and maintains a balance in the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the nature.
- different types of animals and birds are found in the forests which attracts tourists to earn money.
forest products and timber trees
- human beings get timbers , firewood, medicines, fodder, fiber, grass, fruits, etc. from the forests.
- Different types of woods are found in different parts of these regions, which have different landscapes and climatic conditions.
- The terai region contains of tibers like, sal, sisso, simal, jamun, saj, harro, haldu, bijaysal,etc. the hilly has plants like: phalanx, katus, champ, okhar, chilaune, salla,etc. plants like rai sallo, thingure sallo, bhojpatra etc. are found in himalayan region.
These timbers are used for many purposes like: making houses, furniture, bridges,etc. Weak plants are used for making firewood, doofer and more.
medicinal plants and protected plants in nepal
- the plants which are used for making different types of medicines are called medicinal plants. there are about 800 species of medicinal plants in the different regions of nepal.
- those plants which are found less in number and are on the verge of extinction is not protected are called rare plants. (sal, simal, satisal, kutki, etc.)
animals and birds of nepal
rare species of nepal
many species of animals and birds are on the verge of extinction due to deforestation and human activities. these animals and birds are called endangered animals. rare animals are those animals which are found less in the nuber and may get extinct from nature if not conserved. in nepal, 26 species of mammals, 9 species of birds and 3 species of reptiles are listes as endangered species.
