Q
  1. What needs to be considered in regards to Cardiac arrhythmias and Hypothermia?
A
  • Associated with temps <33

- Defibrillation and cardioactive meds may not be effective at temp <30, VF may resolve upon rewarming

Q
  1. What is the Rx for Environmental/Exertional Hyperthermia?
A
  • Cooling techniques
  • Elderly/frail: Cold NS IV (Max 20mL/kg) - Reassess after each 500mL increment
  • Young/fit/healthy: Consider immediate ice bath or cold shower, cooling techniques, Cold NS IV max 40mL/kg
