Q

hyperthermia: If significant dehydration or poor perfusion mx? what temp to use cold fluids? when to return to ambient temp fluids?

A
  • titrate Normal Saline IV to VSS and temp (max. 40 mL/kg)
  • Consult for further fluid. If consult unavailable repeat Normal Saline 20 mL / kg IV

If Pt temp > 40°C use cool fluids if available (stored usually at < 8°C)

  • If cool fluids intiated, return to ambient temp once Pt temp is < 39°C
