What are an ECOs duties at a fire station?

A
Ensure the following equipment is available: • ECB.
• Contents of ECB pouch
• Guide line in bag.
• IEC pack.
• Hand held radio for the comms op.
• ECB tripod and bracket.
Ensure the ECB is fully tested.
Ensure the second set bags are available on fire rescue units (FRU), command units (CU), and operational support units (OSU).

A

A

What must the ECO do once having decided where to site the ECP?

A

Set up the ECB and check the clock is correct.
Use the tripod and set up the ECB with its back to the wearers.
Enter location, stage, call sign, roll, and name.
Don the ECO tabard.
Set up the resuscitator for immediate use.
Switch their hand-held radio to BA channel 6.
Ensure telemetry signal is maximised by use of the tripod and reducing obstructions Check clock to ensure correct time

Duties of ECO when committing BA teams:

A
  • inform wearers of the ECP call sign.
  • confirm each BA call sign when committing and record in the remarks column of the ECB
  • check the wearers babe and cylinder contents against their tally. Cylinder must be above 240.
  • write “time in” from the ECB clock onto the tally before slotting into ECB
  • if an A or B test has been carried out at the scene. Enter A or B test not recorded in the remarks column next the the wearers babe
  • ensure telemetry signal by green and blue lights on bodyguard and green light on ECB.
  • calculate and record time of warning for each wearer in the location column next to their name. Using the entry clock and duration table.
  • bracket the BA team together
  • put the earliest time of warning outside the brackets.
  • enter and update the BA teams location
  • record any additional information e.g other equipment in the remarks column.

A

• all written information must be transferred.

A

Emergency teams.

A
  • as soon as resources permit. IC should nominate an emergency team.
  • emergency team should be wearers who have not already been used. Unless their knowledge is necessary to ensure the success of the team
  • lead by a minimum of crew manager
  • as large as the largest team working on the she task
  • rigged at the same level of protection as other teams already committed
  • equipment with one second set bag for every two BA wearers in the emergency team
  • equipment with radio communication for the BA team leader.
