Weber Test

Rinne Test
Bone better than air means
Lateralization (should be heard midline)
Could be R sided conductive or L sided sensorineural hearing loss
Compare sound conduction of air/bone
Normal air>bone
Ipsilateral conductive hearing loss
Sinus Transillumination
Malignant lymph nodes
Opacified sinus does not transilluminate well
Useful in excluding maxillary sinusitis
Rock hard, fixed
Keloid
Relapsing polychondritis
Ramsay Hunt syndrome
Exuberant scar formation following skin trauma
Inflamed external ear
ZV of geniculate ganglion with CN7 palsy

Sinus ostia obstruction (Nasal polyp)
Facial/maxillary tooth tenderness, sinus congestion
F/M tooth pain, abnormal transillumination
Periorbital cellulitis, meningitis, subdural empyema, CST
Oral cancer
usually SCC (related to tobacco use, HPV, alcohol)
Tongue coating other causes
Inflamed papillae
Dry mouth (Mouth breathing)
IV volume depletion (shock)
Smoking/tobacco
Candidiasis
Predisposing conditions
Pain if it spreads to
painless white plaque of tongue/palate
Difficult to scrape
Steroids, diabetes, IC
Pharynx and esophagus
