The Black Plague devastated Europe from 1348-1350. How did this horrible event affect Bocaccio and his writing? Make connection to modern day and events in 2020.
To start off, it gave boccacio the inspiration to have the 10 individuals leaving florence for the same reason, the plague. Secondly, he showed how their was a bright side or ending to dark times or moments. Connects to 2020 because the COVID-19 pandemic caused fear, isolation, and a huge disruption to everyday life just like how the young people must have felt.

What is the biggest IRONY in this story?
Mona finally talks to the man that loves her and asks to sit down and chat over dinner. Federigo had lost all his fortune by this point so unaware of why she is actually there, he decides to cook the falcon so she can have a meal since he had nothing. he did this out of love for her despite how much he cared about the bird. unfortunately the real reason why mona was there to begin with was so that federigo could bring the falcon for her sick son since her son said that i would be the only thing that would make him feel better .

Mona loses her son and her husband. Federigo and Mona finally become a thing and live happily together.

Even in someone’s worst moments, always stay noble and patient because there definitely will be better days ahead that will make up for everything.

Why was this a good story to be telling by one of the 10 travelers as they are escaping Florence?
This was definitely a good story to tell by one of the ten young people because this was something motivating and encouraging to hear at the such a hard time for the fellow people as they were probably scared and isolated throughout the plague. it would help them believe that despite how they are now, things will get better eventually at the end
