Historical
an expression of man’s ideas and feelings in an ordinary language of man
Prose
an expression of man’s ideas and feelings in words designated to delight the ear and appeal to the imagination
Poetry
product of one’s imagination
Fiction
all ideas are factual
Nonfiction
narration of demonstrating a useful truth, especially in which animals speak as humans
Fable
story about fairies or other magical creatures, usually for children
Fairy Tale
story of a national or folk hero that has a basis in fact but also includes imaginative material
Legend
often pertaining to the actions of the gods
Mythology
a traditional or legendary story usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation
Myths
an account of someone’s life written by someone else
Biography
a self-written account of the life of a person
Autobiography
a short literary composition that reflects the author’s outlook or point
Essay
public address or discourse
Speech
authoritative and detailed factual description of a topic
Textbook
a book in which one keeps a daily record of events and experiences
Diary
a short and amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person
