Hyperbole
What is an adjective?
The attribute of a noun so such as red, or golden, or ferocious
What is a simile?
Comparing something to something else. E.g. “His shouting was as loud as a lions roar.”
What is a metaphor?
A metaphor is a way of describing something such as an object or event and applying it to something which may not be currently happening in a literal sense
What is personification?
The act of making an inanimate object have a human action. Such as “The car coughed constantly”
What is alliteration?
Alliteration is the repetition of a letter in a consecutive sense. E.g. “Many men mention my murders.”
What is imagery?
Imagery is the device which describes a current location in a text. E.g. “The sky was grey, but the green grass was almost able to reflect its radiance on it.”
What is emotive language?
Language which is designed to positively target a certain emotion through its connotations. Such as, “Melancholy” or “Devastated” or “Innocent”
What are pronouns?
The way in which a person can be referenced. E.g. “she” “he” or “they” usually.
What are facts?
Facts are pieces of information which are provided from valid evidence of something. Such as, “All of the rainforests in the world produce 28% of the worlds oxygen.”
What are rhetorical questions?
Questions where someone may ask them but no response is expected. Examples of this could be, “Do you want to die the same way that these animals did?”
What are superlatives?
Expressing the highest degree of the magnitude of something which might not be grammatically correct. E.g. “Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world.”
What is onomatopoeia?
When how you say a word sounds like how it sounds in real life. “Pop” “Crackle” or “Fizz” are examples
Sibilance
Sibilance is the repetition of a hissing sound in a sentence.
