[Acts 7-28] A Pharisee who studied Jewish law under Gamaliel. He was converted and made an apostle to the Gentiles. The Book of Acts tells of his missionary journeys.

[Matthew 6,7 scattered through Gospels] One of the three major Jewish groups in Jesus’ day, Pharisee thought that since they were descendants of Abraham they were approved by God. Intensely moralistic, drawing a hedge around the law to insure their conformity (at least outwardly) to it. Held to the oral tradition along with the Mosaic law and were Jesus’ chief opponents.

James was an Apostle and the son of Alphaeus (Matthew 10). Little is known of this apostle. He is sometimes referred to as “James the Younger” to distinguish him from James, son of Zebedee.

What are the distinctive features of Luke’s Gospel?
Purpose: To present an accurate account of the life of Christ and to present Christ as the perfect man and savior—Assurance of truth about Jesus (1:1-4). This is the longest and most literary of the Gospels. Presenting Jesus’ an-cestry, birth, and early life before moving carefully through his ministry, death and resurrection, Luke is also the most comprehensive of the Gospels.
