English - 2002 - Cel lep-ILP02-Karina-June-Vocabulary Flashcards
Adverbs and adjectives
-Base -> Very
Really
-Strong -> Absolutely
Os advérbios servem para modificar os verbos, dizendo a maneira, o tempo ou o lugar onde a ação ocorre. Exemplo:
- They were extremely happy (eles estavam extremamente felizes)
A palavra “extremamente” diz qual era o estado (maneira) deles. Portanto, é um advérbio. Muitos advérbios são formados apenas adicionando o sufixo ly em um adjetivo, como successfully (com sucesso), quickly (rapidamente), carefully (cuidadosamente). Porém outros adjetivos não mudam sua forma quando se tornam advérbios, exemplo: fast, hard .
Advérbios que definem frequência, geralmente vêm antes do verbo principal (muitas vezes, também vêm antes ou depois do verbo to be):
- She never arrives late (ela nunca chega tarde)
- I always use hats (eu sempre uso bonés)
- She is sometimes unhappy (ela está infeliz as vezes)
Atenção: advérbios de infrequência (rarely, never) não devem ser usados em frases negativas ou em perguntas. Exemplo: Does he never come here? I don’t rarely play video games.
Advérbios de tempo: yesterday, today, tomorrow, etc;
- He will be noticed tomorrow (ele será avisado amanhã)
- We were playing football yesterday (nós estávamos jogando futebol ontem)
Advérbios de lugar: here, there, anywhere, outside, inside, right, left, etc;
- The tragedy happened right here (a tragédia aconteceu bem aqui)
- The party will be on my house (a festa será em minha casa)
- The TV is inside the box (a TV está dentro da caixa)
