Engines system description Flashcards
Exhaust System Type
Crossover, with gases directed outboard of the nacelles into muffler-heaters for reduced noise, heated cabin air and defrost.
Oil cooling
Provided by oil coolers fed with air from scoops on the cowls
Induction and alternate air
Primary induction is provided by outboard air scoops on the cowl. Alternate air is unfiltered and heated by the crossover exhaust tube and provides protection against icing. Alternate should NOT be used for takeoff.
Alternate air should cause a drop in RPM during engine runup.
Cranking
Continuously up to 30 seconds on the first start attempt.
Must cool for “several” minutes between each attempt.
Engine action hesitation
Before a runup on a cold day, advance throttles slowly and check for any sagging, sputtering, or slow acceleration.
