Q

What maintains propeller control in the 20/22?

A

A CABLE connecting the power lever to the propeller governor, and a NOTCH maintains 2500rpm for cruise and 2700rpm for full-power.

(controls prop and engine speed)

Q

What does the % Pwr block on the MFD represent?

A

20/22: Total Power Output combining RPM, Manifold “Hg, Fuel Flow, and OAT for the 1 reading we see.

22T: Total Power Output combining RPM, Manifold “Hg, Fuel Flow and MANIFOLD Air Temp.

Q

What is TIT?

A

Turbine Inlet Temp.

How hard the turbos are working to compress induction air.

Sensed as Exhaust Air hits the Turbine Inlet.

7
Q

What does the Slope Controller do? How is it controlled?

A

Senses the Manifold Pressure being asked for (by the power lever position), and how much exhaust gas is needed to maintain it.

Manipulates the wastegate to open/close mechanically through oil pressure.

It is controlled automatically, by way of oil pressure.

9
Q

Normally Aspirated Engine Operation

A

Induction Air routed to cylinders for combustion.

Exhaust air is routed to Headers (designed to scavenge new air in), Collectors, and a Heat Exchanger for environmental use, Mufflers and then out the tailpipes.

20s exhaust system is combined at the collector, 22s is divided into 2 halves.

12
Q

Magneto arcing?

A

Air acts as an insulator INSIDE the MAGS.

22T’s MAGS are pressurized by the turbocharger to prevent ARCING (less dense air inside) which can lead to a rough running engine.

13
Q

What else is unique about the SR Series MAGS?

A

They can adjust their own timing for the spark, so that it ignites just prior to Top Dead Center.

This allows time for the fuel/air combustion to reach its maximum potential during all phases of flight.

Doesn’t apply to starting.
