ENGINE START PROCEDURE

A

FO-START SWITCH TO GROUND

  • Hand on thrust lever until 20% N1 (should have N1 and OIL PRESSURE INCREASING)
  • N1 rotation seen and N2 at 25% (max motoring 1% 5 secs/ min 20%)
  • START LEVER IDLE (start a clock 10 secs EGT, 2nd Start leave clock running 3.30/5.30)
  • Check ENG VALVE and SPAR VALVE
  • ENG DISPLAY N1 3-4%
  • FUEL FLOW

  • 56% N2 start switch to AUTO “STARTER CUTOUT”
  • STABLE IDLE
    • Stable idle is when EGT start REDLINE disappears

ABORTED ENGINE START PARAMETERS

A

Do the “Aborted Engine Start” NNC for any of the following

  • No or Slow N1 or N2 after EGT increase (HUNG)
  • No OIL pressure by stable IDLE
  • No EGT within 15 secs of start lever to idle (WET)
  • EGT nears or exceeds start limit (HOT)
