Engine Apparatus Flashcards
Pump
2000 GPM
And Max pressure rating of 600 psi
3rd Stage = High Pressure
Up to 700psi
Idle pressure
Volume = 55psi
Pressure =110psi (to overcome head pressure)
How many folds equals 50’ of rolled hose
4 folds = 50’
In-line Pumping
Any situation in which the 3 1/2” is used to connect to hydrant. Hydrant does NOT have to be before fire building (odd)
Drafting
Switch to RPM and throttle to 1000 rpm
Prime at least 45 seconds
ECC supplies standpipe
100psi, plus 5 psi per floor
ie fire in 26, 230psi
FDC with aluminum caps
Non-automatic or perforated pipe
Supply with 150psi
Automatic Sprinkler painted green
Straight Run stairs are common in
Loft buildings and other larger occupancies (theatres)
We’ll Hole stretch
Ideally, Hose strap placed just below coupling. Not necessary
Rope stretch line through window on the ground floor
On ground floor the hose should pass through the UPPER pain of window, while pass through the LOWER pain on upper floor.
Rope stretch. Once enough hose hoisted in window (or roof) hose must be properly secured. This SHOULD BE done directly below COUPLING
Fire escape stretch secure the hose secured where?
ONE hose strap on FE rail (not every other floor)
One floor below fire
ERP
Potential Detonation
What distance from suspected IED and PD not on scene
HT and CELL PHONES shall not be used within 150’ of suspended devices
APPARATUS, POST and MARINE RADIOS 300’. These are guidelines
Pump Idle Pressure
Equals the pressure the pump provides at its lowest RPM (about 55 in volume or 110 in pressure). PLUS the intake pressure from water source like a hydrant (usually about 50)
PD fully involved
Drop 2 handlines in front (bluff is 1 for TL)
Consider 2 1/2. WHIFE
Wind impact
Heavy involved 1st floor in large PD (Queen Anne)
Fully involved building
Exposure protection
