600 gal / 30 gal
Engine HP
Cummins 450 hp
Pump capacity (gpm)
1500 gpm
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) reservoir size
4.5 gal
DEF consumption is 2-3% of fuel consumption - refill DEF every other fuel fill
DEF Indicator Light (solid color)
Between 1/4 and 1/8 full
DEF indicator light (flashing)
Below 1/8 full
Warm water decon tank size
18 gallons
Warm Water Decon heater types
Two heaters, 12v and 120v
Warm water decon system - how long does it take to fully warm on shore power?
45-60 mins
If station GFI trips on shorepower, what do you do?
Turn off 120v warm water decon heater
Onspot chains – effective in snow how deep?
4 inches
Speed requirements to engage Onspot chains
engage when traveling 2-25 mph just before hitting slippery conditions
DO NOT EXCEED 35 mph
Switches - Front Wheel Lock
applies air to front brakes for additional holding
parking brake must be set first
apparatus must be running and attended
Manual pump engagement three step process
1) In neutral, w/ brake set, in idle –> Move pump shift lever to middle position
2) 2nd person pushes in the manual pump shift on pump panel
3) With manual handle pushed in, driver puts pump shift lever in down position and transmission to D
PSG “Preset” pressure and RPM
125 PSI when in “Pressure” mode
1000 RPM when in “RPM” mode
Cavitation protection - Pressure Mode
- Pressure falls -> PSG throttles up
- If PSG can’t recover, switches to RPM Limit
- If pressure recovers, returns to Pressure mode
- If does not recover but stays above 45 psi, remains in RPM limit
- If below 45 but >15 –> “Lo Water” model –> RPM set at 1100, idle after 7 seconds
- If below 15 psi –> No Water Mode, goes to idle
Cavitation protection – What happens if pressure resolves while in RPM Limit/Lo Water/No Water mode?
PSG returns to Pressure Mode
Cavitation Protection – In RPM Limit/Lo Water/No Water mode –> What happens if in idle and pressure does not resolve?
After 3 mins in idle, enters idle mode and pressure setting is canceled
Booster reel hose length/diameter, flow and friction loss
Length: 150’

30 gallon tank
Can flow 3000 gpm at 0.4%
Can flow 7500 gallons water with 30 gal foam tank at 0.4%
Foam system: concentrate % for class A and class B fires
Class A: 0.1%
Class B: 0.4%
