Energy Systems Flashcards
What does fast glycolysis produce?
Lactic acid which is recycled to make ATP
What does Slow glycolysis produce?
Acetyl-CoA
What is EPOC?
Excess post exercise oxygen consumption
What are Enzymes?
Help things break down to create chemical reactions
What makes fat cells?
Fatty acids
What does ASE stand for?
Anaerobic strength endurance
What are the two categories the Nervous system is broken down into?
Anatomical divisions and functional divisions
What are anatomical divisions?
The central nervous system Impacting the brain and spinal cord.
Peripheral nervous system the nerves that respond to the spinal cord
What are the two categories of functional divisions?
Somatic voluntary muscle activation and autonomic involuntary such as a heart
Is stored in your body as glycogen, fat and protein. What is it?
Chemical energy
The units of energy that our bodies able to use is referred to as
ATP
What is ATP?
Composed of an adenine group, a ribose group and phosphate groups
What is anabolic metabolism
Builds larger substances from smaller substances
What is catabolic metabolism
Brakes larger compounds into smaller compounds
What are enzymes
Helps break things down. Enzymes do not become part of a product or remain intact as an enzyme
