Energy revison Flashcards
What is heat?
Heat is a form of energy it is measured in joules. (J)
What is temperature?
It is a measure of how hot or cold the body is but does not tell us how much heat the body contains
What is temperature measured in.
Degrees Celsius
What is kinetic energy?
It’s the energy an object possesses due to it’s motion.
The amount of kinetic energy you have depends on what?
Your speed and mass e.g a person has more kinetic energy when running rather than walking.
What is electrical energy?
It has charge or voltage and is described as + or -
What is thermal energy?
Thermal energy can refer to the amount of molecular movement or internal energy of a system;
How many kilojoules are in 5000 joules?
5 kilojoules
What is energy measured in?
Joules (J)
Are heat and temperature the same?
No
What is a non-renewable resource?
A resource that when you use it once it can take millions of years to be replaced
What is a renewable resource?
Something that can be used over and over again and not run out e.g water
What is chemical energy?
Chemical energy is the potential of a chemical substance to undergo a transformation through a chemical.
What is wave energy?
It is the energy that has been made by the power of waves in the ocean.
What is nuclear energy?
It is the energy released during nuclear fission or fusion. It is the combination of 2 light atoms.
