Energy Revision Flashcards
Is energy needed ta make things happen?
Yes
State the different forms of energy
Kinetic Chemical Elastic Electrostatic Gravitational Magnetic Thermal
Give examples of simple energy transfers from everyday life
Mechanical work
Electrical work
Heating
Light radiation
What is the law of conservation?
Energy can not be created or destroyed it can only be transferred.
What is the unit for measuring energy?
Joules
How we convert between Joules and Kilojoules?
1 kilojoule is 1000 Joules
Explain why different people need different amounts of energy
Because some people weight more than other and if you weight more you need to have more energy so you can move. As well a baby needs a lot of energy so he can do MRS NERG/GREN process.
Describe how to test a to find out how much energy it contains.
Burning that food and the you put the food under a beaker with water so you can see how much the water changes compared with other food.
Discuss the effects of the body of too much or too little food and exercise.
With too little food you have very little energy to move and the problem of not doing exercise is that you don’t waste the energy so the spear energy transforms in fat.
From where do plants get the energy from?
From the sun because of photosynthesis.
State the three types of fossil fuels
Coal
Oil
Gas
Describe how fossil fuels were created.
Trees, plants or dead fish fall to the bottom of the sea/muddy swamp and covered. After millions of years because pressure and heat they are turned in into fossil fuels.
What is solar power?
Solar power is getting energy from the sun by some solar panels
What is wind power
Wind power is when you get energy by some turbines spinning by the wind
What is biomass energy?
Biomass energy is when you burn trees that heats water into water vapour and the water vapour spins a turbine
