Q

What energy store is most appropriate for 2 magnets attracting each other

A

Magnetic

17
Q

What energy store is most appropriate for 2 electrically charged objects attracting each other

A

Electrostatic

18
Q

What is the equation linking energy transferred, force and distance moved

A

Energy transferred = force x distance

19
Q

Energy store of dropping and object

A

Mechanically

20
Q

Energy store in food

A

Chemical energy, when u eat food it’s metabolised and transfers the energy in food to different stores in ur body

21
Q

When is energy transferred

A

When a force moves an object

22
Q

How can u transfer something mechanically

A

When a force makes something move e.g. if an object is being pushed, pulled, stretched or squashed

23
Q

How can u transfer something electrically

A

When electric charges move around an electric circuit due to a potential difference

24
Q

How can u transfer something by light or sound

A

When light or sound waves carry energy from one place to another

25
Q

How can u transfer something by heating

A

When an object is transferred from hotter objects to colder objects

26
Q

What happens when you drop an object

A

It moves through a gravitational field: energy transfers from gravitational potential energy store to its kinetic energy store. The force of gravity makes the object move so energy is transferred mechanically

27
Q

How is energy transferred in food

A

Food has energy stored in chemical energy stores. When u eat food it is metabolised (changed by chemical processes in ur body), which transfers the energy in the food to different stores in ur body

28
Q

How is energy transferred by burning fuel

A

When you burn fuel energy is transferred from the fuels chemical energy store to the thermal energy store of the surroundings by heating

29
Q

How is energy transferred in electric circuits

A

When u turn on a battery powered fan u complete an electric circuit. Energy is transferred electrically from the chemical energy store of the battery to the kinetic store of the fan

30
Q

How is energy transferred in a stretched spring

A

A stretched spring has energy in its elastic potential energy store. When it is released energy is transferred from the springs elastic potential energy store to its kinetic energy store as it moves back to its original shape. A force is making the spring move, so it is transferred mechanically

31
Q

When is energy transferred

A

When force moves an object

32
Q

Why is energy needed

A

To supply the force that moves an object

33
Q

What happens when you push a broom

A

When u push the broom, the energy is supplied in the person pushing a broom, and is transferred to the things it has swept up
