Endomembrane system Flashcards
What is the function of Clathrin?
A coat protein that mediates transport from the plasma membrane to the Golgi
What is the function of Cop1?
A coat protein that mediates transport within the Golgi
What is the function of Cop2?
A coat protein that mediates transport from the ER to Golgi
What kind of transport is Cop1 associated with?
Retrograde (back to ER)
What kind of transport is Cop2 associated with?
Anterograde (ER to Golgi)
What is V. SNARE?
vesicle bound protein
What is T. SNARE?
target bound protein
What is KDEL?
a retention signal to stay in the ER
What are early endosomes?
transport vesicles with low pH found near the periphery of the cell.
What are late endosomes?
transport vesicles with neutral pH found in the interior of the cell.
Where can clathrin and adaptin be found and what is the function?
can be found in coated pits used for endocytosis.
How do things move through the golgi?
anterograde movement is through cisternal maturation, retrograde movement is by vesicles associated with Cop1.
What protein is used to move vesicles from the ER to the golgi?
kinesin
