Oestrogen
a hormone that stimulates the lining of the uterus to build up ready for pregnancy. Slows down production of FSH and made in pituitary gland
Follicle stimulating hormone
Matures one egg in the ovaries (become follicle). It stimulates the ovaries to produce oestrogen.
Glycogen
excess glucose that is stored in the liver
Glucagon
a hormone that causes the liver to turn glycogen back into glucose
Insulin
a hormone that forces the liver to store the excess glucose as glycogen. It is released by the pancreas
Luteinising Hormone (LH)
Increases with the level of oestrogen. It causes ovulation (release of a mature egg).
Progesterone
Thickens the lining of the uterus. Made in the corpus luteum
Negative Feedback
a normal biological response in which if the level of something in your body is too high e.g blood sugar then it would be counteracted by something else to lower it and also raise the level of itself. vice versa
Thyroxine
A hormone that controls how much energy your body uses made in the thyroid gland
Adrenaline
A hormone released to increase heart rate
