What is the endocrine system?
The endocrine system is a collection of glands that produce hormones that regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep and mood among other things. It is a much slower system that your nervous system and it uses chemical messengers called hormones to maintain the system.
Where do hormones travel through?
Travel through the blood and arrive at the target organ
two main types of hormones?
Peptide hormones and steroid hormone.
What does adrenalin do?
Adrenalin prepares your body for the extra effort to defend yourself. Adrenalin flood your system causing a increase in strength, heart rate, blood pressure, increased access to energy.
pituitary gland function
I make hormones that help you grow and I control the activity of other glands aswell.
thyroid
I make hormones that help you stay alert and full of energy.
pancreas.
Pancreas produce the hormone called insulin that helps glucose, the sugar in your blood, enter the cells of your body. I also work close with the digestive system.
Adrenal glands
We produce hormones that help you act fast when your in trouble or under stress.
