Used to treat cough; an expectorant (brings up flem) and should be taken with a full glass of water to decrease the iscosity of secreations; extra doeses should not be taken; client should contace MD if cough lasts longer than 1 week or is acompanied by fever, rash, sore throut or persistent headache; fluids are needed to decrease viscosisty of secrions; does not need to be taken with food.
