How does other hormones affect prolactin?
A
Thryotrophin releasing hormone stimulates prolactin
Dopamine inhibits prolactin
Then prolactin inhibits GnRH
Therefore dopamine antagonists - eg schizophrenia drugs= can cause hyperprolactinaemia

Heart failure

Mx of DKA
A
IV isotonic fluid
IV infusion insulin 0.1kg/hr
5% dextrose added when BG <15mmol/l

Mx of Addisonian crisis?
A
100mg hydrocortisone IV - definitive treatment
IV isotonic fluid- over an hour
Continue hydrocortisone every six hours until stable
