A

Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detect

Used to determine when a device can transmit and what happens if two devices transmit concurrently

What is carrier sense?

A

When a device puts a carrier onto the medium when transmitting
Other devices listen for a carrier when ready to transmit
If the carrier is detected the medium is determined to be busy and the devices will wait
