Who is responsible for completing renewel applications?
The member involved with assistance from the EMS chief

The Battalion chief assigned to administration.
When may dispatch disregard us from an EMS call?
Only when they receive info that the patient has already left the scene.
Only ETEMS has authority to disregard otherwise.
Through what channels shall a request for air ambulance be requested?
Through WPD dispatch if ETEMS not on scene.
Through ETEMS dispatch via on scene ETEMS personnel if they are on scene
Through WPD dispatch if in disagreement for the need
What radio frequency is used to talk with air ambulances?
V MED 28
Who shall be notified if a company becomes short handed due to a ride-in with ETEMS.
On duty BC and WPD dispatch
Who may PHI be shared with?
Other health care providers directly involved with patient care.
May PHI be given to law enforcement personnel in urgent situations such as to solve or prevent a crime?
Yes but only the minimum amount necessary for the legitimate purposes of the recipient.
What are the parameters of the baby Moses law?
Requires medical care providers to take possession of a child if the entitled person to have the child voluntarily leaves them and does express an intent to return. The child must be 60 days old or younger.
Who shall immediately be notified if a child is abandoned and possession is relinquished to WFR members under the baby Moses Law?
Station Officer shall immediately notify WPD and The Texas Dept Of Protection and Regulatory Services.
When shall batteries be replaced and charged on the monitors?
When there are 3 or less lights illuminated on the battery pack.
When should weekly and monthly checks be completed?
Each Saturday for weekly checks
Last Saturday for monthly checks
When will a drug expire with an expiration date that includes only a month and a year?
On the last day of the month indicated during the specified year.
How shall an expired controlled drug be handled?
A paramedic shall fill out an expiring controlled drug log and turn it in to the EMS chief along with the drug.
WFR does not waste controlled drugs.
What steps should a member take if exposed to an airborne or blood borne pathogen?
Notify station officer and follow the procedures outlined in section 1 of the exposure control plan. The officer should make sure the correct exposure forms are completed along with a first report of injury and an Accident/Injury report.
